WHAT IS CoachSulting©?

CoachSulting© expresses the GBC approach to servicing our clients. This methodology marries two techniques, Coaching and Consulting, which traditionally contrast each other’s approach.

Consulting engages the client with a hands-on approach in addressing the issues of their business. In contrast, the business Coach assesses and directs the client to the solution.

The debate is ongoing as to which is the better approach in helping clients succeed.

GBC sees this debate very different...

As a firm fully vested in the success of our clients, we believe in using the best tools of both worlds to help our clients succeed. Just like driving a car… One may argue that the gas pedal is better, while another argues that the brake pedal is better. The GBC view would be that you need both pedals to drive the vehicle successfully. And that’s correct! As such, we apply both strategies to assist the development of our clients.

These two approaches can be explained with the following example;

Coaching = Teaching you how to fish

  • A Coach Asks you Questions About Your Knowledge of Fishing
  • A Coach Helps you to Self Actualize Your Own Style of Fishing
  • A Coach suggests what types of equipments to use: hooks, rods, nets, etc.
  • A Coach recommends where you should go to fish
Consulting = Giving you a fish
  • A Consultant Gives you the Exact Fish That you Want and/or Need
  • A Consultant asks “What do you have an appetite for?”
    Salmon, bass, trout, anchovy, sardine, tuna, whiting, perch, etc.

THE PROBLEM:

It is generally agreed upon that learning how to fish on your own is the best long term option. There’s only one problem with that. During the short term while you’re learning how to fish, you may starve to death, especially if you are not a fast learner! This is also chiefly true with government contracting because the learning process and the act of winning a contract can take anywhere from 3 months to 24 months. If you don’t have outside help with your deficiencies, your business may suffer greatly.

THE SOLUTION:

Our CoachSulting© Strategy is Simple.
While you are learning to fish, we will fish on your behalf and give you the fish to eat so you don’t starve. This means for government contracting, GBC will teach you and guide you through the intricacies of government contracting. GBC will also pre-determine how much work you need completed on your behalf.
 

For example:
You identified an opportunity that is a great match for your company. A response to the Request for Proposal (RFP) is needed. However, you have never written a government proposal and your company does not have anyone that can do this. Writing the proposal can be a task that we pre-determine ahead of time GBC can fulfill on behalf of your company.

GBC believes that the converging point where coaching and consulting meet is the point of greatest success. Our business model is hinged on this philosophy, aiding our clients toward victory.
